In Village of the Mirror, we wanted to merge two deeply atmospheric folkloric traditions: Japanese and Anatolian. The Torii gates symbolize the transition from the mundane to the sacred or the afterlife in Japanese culture, while the cursed well is a timeless symbol of buried secrets in Anatolian tales.
By bringing these motifs together, we create a sense of displacement. Players aren't just running from a monster; they are exploring a cultural collision where every artifact tells a story.
